The new DAT160 tape has a native capacity of 80GB (or 160GB compressed) and a maximum transfer rate of 6.9MB/s (13.8MB/s compressed). The DGDAT160 has a new tape width of 8mm which allows it to store such large capacity in a small cartridge.

Sony's technological expertise and experience in the DDS format have made it possible to deliver higher compressed capacities of up to 160GB of data protection per cartridge.
